MOUNT ROGERS HIGH COUNTRY
Wild mountain trout fishing at its best
LOCATION X

The mountain streams that we fish drain Mount Rogers--Virginia's highest peak--and are chock full of wild, naturally-reproducing rainbow and brown trout. These streams range in character from large mountain streams, like Whitetop Laurel Creek and the South Fork of the Holston River, to tiny mountain branches and valley spring creeks. The average wild trout in these streams range from 6 - 12 inches, but wild fish over 24 inches are encountered regularly in certain fisheries.
Because we believe in the value of these streams, we carry a commercial use permit from the United State Forest Service to legally guide trips on them.

YEAR-ROUND OPPORTUNITIES

Thanks to the high elevations of the region, our mountain stream trout season runs year-round, though water temperatures can hit dangerous levels in the lower elevations briefly mid-summer.

Insect hatches and dry fly fishing can be enjoyed throughout the winter and spring, and terrestrial fishing dominates the summer months. Nymphing and streamer fishing fills in the cracks.

The great diversity of streams and environments that hold wild trout in this region allow us to cater each trip to the client's goals and needs.
