WINTER TIME AND THE FISHING IS GREAT

In just one short week, it'll once again be winter by the calendar, but by the weather report, winter is already upon us. Southwest Virginia got over a foot of snow last weekend--up to 18" in some areas--keeping us off the water for just a few days. However, musky and wild trout fishing has been consistently good, and the river flows seem to have settled into a stable winter level, making life easy for both the fish and the angler.

I've been running a lot of musky trips on the New River, lately, and we've been enjoying tremendous success. Rarely have we gone a day without seeing some action, and we've been fortunate to put a good number of nice fish in the boat. Pictures are included below. I'm running musky float trips for $100 off through March 31, with added discounts for multi-day trips. These trips include all gear needed and a hot shore lunch. If you're interested in trying your hand at musky fishing, or if you've been dreaming of crossing "the fish of 10,000 casts" off your bucket list, let us shorten the learning curve for you. Prime dates are filling up, already, so don't hesitate!

Wild trout trips have been hot, too, lately. The mountain streams are full and stable, and the brown trout are coming off of their spawn period, and are looking to feed. Throwing larger flies (nymphs and streamers) for these beautiful fish has been the ticket. The more plentiful wild rainbows are always present, and can offer fast action through the winter months. Some of our best winter trips on the mountain streams have produced over 50 fish in a day's time.

For those still looking for Christmas gifts for the fish heads on your lists, we have customizeable gift certificates available for any amount, and that include a 20% off coupon for a Reilly Rod Crafters fly rod and a blank greeting card from the masterful angling artist, Bob White, so that you can write your own inscription. Contact me for details.

Winter can be one of the most enjoyable seasons to be on the river, both for the scenery and the solitude. We rarely see other anglers, and the fishing is fantastic! If you'd like to get out in it, this winter, shoot me an email, or give me a phone call.

I look forward to fishing with you!
